Russell Investments has a new MD for Asia-Pacific region

Russell Investments has promoted Jason Edgar to the role of MD for the Asia-Pacific region from the role of handling corporate developmentĀ

The $302.7 billion Russell Investments has appointed Jason
Edgar as its new Managing Director of the Asia-Pacific region in May.

EdgarĀ responsible for
the firm’s businesses across Japan, Korea, China, Australia, and New Zealand,
and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.

He will report directly to the chair
and chief executive Zach Buchwald. Ā 

Before being promoted to this role,
Edgar was the director for corporate development for a year at the firm.

Edgar succeeds Pete Gunning who has
been with Russell Investments since 1996.

Gunning will continue to serve as vice
chair, collaborating with Edgar on strategic relationships in APAC.

Prior to joining Russell
Investments, Edgar worked at Met Life for nine years where he started working
as AVP for the office of chairman, president and CEO for three years. He then
moved up to handling Asia strategy and business development for two years in
Hong Kong. Post that, he was promoted to head of strategy and growth
partnerships in Asia in Hong Kong. He was in that role for four years.

At Met Life, he helped grow the
insurer’s Asia business through M&A, the expansion of distribution
partnerships, and execution of strategic initiatives.
