“Alicia Munnell is a distinguished
economist whose scholarship has had a profound and lasting impact on
strengthening the U.S. retirement system and household financial security
throughout her career in government service and during her past quarter century
here at Boston College,” said David Quigley, provost and dean of faculties, in
the press release.
Munnell says that the CRR’s senior research
team will also assume more responsibilities in shaping the center’s research
program, expanding development activities, and mentoring junior researchers.
Prior to joining Boston College, Munnell
served as a member of the president’s Council of Economic Advisers and
assistant Secretary for Economic Policy of the U.S. Treasury Department.
Before that, she worked as senior vice
president and director of research for over 20 years at the Federal Reserve
Bank of Boston.
