Custodian
provider Axos Advisor Services has hired sales leader Eugene “Gino”
DeRango from Goldman Sachs & Company, according to a press
release.
Axos Advisor
named DeRango senior vice president, national sales manager, and he will develop
and lead client acquisition, the company said.
Mike Watson, senior
vice president and head of RIA for Axos Advisor called DeRango “a seasoned
senior executive with an outstanding leadership track record throughout his
career.”
He went on to
note DeRango is indicative of “our commitment to growing our RIA custody
platform.”
DeRango joined
Goldman Sachs after the multinational investment bank and financial services
firm broke into the registered investment advisor (RIA) custodian business last
summer.
As RIA
custodian, Goldman Sachs signed Steward Partners – a Washington, D.C.,
investment advisor managing $20 billion – in June 2021. A year earlier, Goldman
Sachs launched its official RIA custodian business with the acquisition of
Virginia broker-dealer Folio Financial.
The company
opened Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management – its private wealth
division – in 2019.
DeRango is
based in Chicago and began working in finance in 2000. He spent the bulk of his
investment career with TD Ameritrade Institutional, where he rose to
managing director of institutional sales.
DeRango
graduated from Loyola University Chicago before gaining his MBA from Creighton
University Heider College of Business.
