Denmark-based Velliv has scooped Lea
Vaisalo, former head of Nordea AM private markets head, as its new CIO,
effective May 1.
The $49.12bn pension plan has been without a
permanent CIO since November when Anders
Stensbøl stepped down, leaving its deputy CIO, Thor Schultz Christensen, to assume day-to-day leadership of the investment area in close dialogue with CEO Kim Kehlet Johansen.
At the time, Johansen had stated a
need for “different competencies in the investment area” upon the departure of the former CIO.
“With a thorough understanding of the
development on financial markets combined with an insight into the pension
world, Lea will play a pivotal role in fulfilling Velliv’s vision of being the
customers’ preferred pension company, giving customers more out of life – from
a human and financial point of view,” said the CEO, in a recent press release.
Prior to joining the pension plan, Vaisalo worked
at Nordea Asset Management for nearly eight years. She has also worked at PKA as a senior
portfolio manager and within the derivates and structured solutions at Morgan
Stanley.
She earned
her Master of Science in finance, economics and econometrics from Cass Business
School.
