Wall Street Veteran Ryan Bailey Onboard with Startup

He joined 2-year-old institutional specialist Investment Office Resources.

By Chris Glynn

Longtime Wall Street financier Ryan
Bailey
joined a startup institutional investment specialist, according to a
press release.

The former analyst and chief
investment officer is a partner with Investment Office Resources in St.
Louis, Mo.

Founder Anthony Waskiewicz
opened IOR in June 2020 to fill a specialty resourcing need in the
not-for-profit allocator market. Prior to founding IOR, Waskiewicz was chief
investment officer of $3 billion Mercy Health from 2010 to 2019.

He and Bailey both hold the
certified financial analyst designation and will serve as co-CIOs for Investment
Office Resources.

In addition to being a CFA, Bailey
is a certified alternative investment analyst. He has served in equity research
with BT Alex Brown and Smith Barney and was the head of
investment for not-for-profit Children’s Health Fund from 2014 to 2019.
He did not respond to a request for additional comment.

IOR will contract its internal
staff to outside institutional clientele, offering investment service and
manager research. In addition, the company can offer risk management,
operational and environment, social and governance support.

For these specialty resourcing clients,
IOR has no discretion over client asset management. IOR does have a
discretionary service line under which it builds and operates an investment office
tailored to the size and objectives of its client.

IOR named $7 billion SSM Health
its first client, followed with $50 billion Ascension Investment Management.
Missouri Foundation for Health and Mid-America Transplant also
joined IOR at its inception in October 2020.

For internal staffing, IOR named Dale
Hunt
, managing director of private equity with Ascension Investment
Management
, as private equity specialist.

In addition, IOR hired Francine
Heller
of Arabesque Asset Management as responsible investing expert,
as well as operational specialist John Nawrocki of Invictus Financial
Development
.  James Kelly, formerly
of Artisan Partners, is also a member of the executive leadership team and
serves as IOR’s chief risk specialist.

Josh Rabuck, CIO of Indiana
University
, joined IOR as strategic advisor in 2020.
