Alistair Smith
Border to Coast Pensions Partnership
Head of Real Estate
Alistair joined Border to Coast in 2022 having previously been Head of Real Estate Investment Management at abrdn. Alistair has over 30 years’ experience in UK and international real estate asset and investment management experience across advisory, private equity, institutional real estate, businesses development, and M&A activities. He is a keen skier, educational and charity boards non exec and former reserve forces officer. Alistair holds a BSc in Land Economics and is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Professional Competence Assessment Panel Chair.

Christopher Osborne
London CIV
Head of Real Estate
Christopher is responsible for leading and managing the development of private market real estate funds and investments at London CIV. He is focused on the procurement/selection process of investment managers and monitoring of existing investments. He brings 12 years’ experience in private markets, with a focus on underwriting new real estate fund opportunities across UK and Europe. He was previously a property asset manager exposed to a broad range of real estate asset classes and jurisdictions throughout Europe and has also worked in the receivership/work out business, post GFC. Christopher is also a Chartered Surveyor.

David Dix

Partner
David Dix is a Partner with The Townsend Group based in London and is responsible for the
management of client portfolios with a particular focus on real estate exposures.
Mr. Dix has over 20 twenty years’ experience in real estate investment and management in Europe, Asia, and the United States. He joined The Townsend Group in 2018 from CBRE Capital
Advisors (London) where he was responsible for advising global clients on indirect real estate
investment strategies.
Prior to CBRE, Mr. Dix was a principal with a Japanese fund manager (seven years), largely
based in Tokyo, and with Macquarie Bank in Sydney, Australia (ten years). At Macquarie Bank,
he initially focused on investment and financial risk management advisory roles thereafter moving
into real estate fund management including three years as CEO of a $2.2 billion cross-border
listed REIT. He has been directly involved in the strategy development, capital raising, and management of more than $3 billion of real estate funds and provided strategy and investment advice
to institutional real estate investors in the Europe, U.K., U.S. and Asia.

Farhaz Miah

Vice President, European Research & Strategy
Farhaz Miah joined QuadReal in August 2022 as Vice President, European Research & Strategy. He is responsible for researching investment transactions and strategies, exploring sector trends and identifying geographies of opportunity in Europe. With over 13 years of experience in established real estate research teams, Farhaz brings valuable expertise in research-driven investment strategies to QuadReal. He was previously the Head of Research, Europe at Hines where he led efforts focused on capital raising, deal underwriting, investment strategy and thought leadership. Prior to that role, Farhaz held senior positions with DWS (formerly Deutsche Asset Management) and started his career at Preqin. Farhaz holds a Master’s of Science in Economic History from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Central Lancashire.

Giorgio Pieralli
Zurich Insurance Group
Head of Real Estate Southern Europe, Investment Management
Giorgio Pieralli is the Head of Real Estate Southern Europe in Zurich Insurance Group, and actively manages different insurance portfolios primary invested in offices in Spain, Italy and Portugal.
Giorgio joined Zurich Group in 2018 and worked on different illiquid asset classes like Private Equity and Private debt, in addition to Real Estate since the beginning. Before that he was Managing Director and Fund Manager of AXA Real Estate SGR, Italian AIFM of AXA Real Asset Group specialized in Pan European Office Property Funds, for 15 years.
Giorgio holds Master of Science in Corporate Finance from Bocconi University, Degree in Economics from Catholic University of Milan and studies in Financial Markets at the London School of Economics.
He is member of Royal Institute of Charter Surveyor (RICS) and member of the Council of Italian Real Estate Industry Association (Assoimmobiliare)

Kevin Gardiner

Global Investment Strategist, Wealth Management
Kevin worked at the Bank of England, several investment banks and Barclays Wealth Management (as CIO for Europe) before joining Rothschild & Co in 2014.
Kevin studied at Glan Ely Comprehensive, UWC Atlantic College, LSE and Cambridge University. He is chair of the Cardiff Capital Region Economic Growth Board.
In 1994, at Morgan Stanley, he wrote the “Celtic Tiger” report on the Irish economy, still the
fastest-growing – and most misunderstood – in Western Europe. His book “Making Sense of
Markets” was published in 2015.

Laia Massague

Managing Director
Prior to StepStone, Ms. Massague worked with the real estate finance fund at GAM International where she was responsible for the conception, structure and execution of real estate investments across the UK and Europe. Before that she was a vice president of real estate debt advisory at the Blackstone Group.
Ms. Massague received a MBA in real estate from the Wharton School at the University of
Pennsylvania and dual BS degrees in architecture and management from MIT.

Per Wimmer

Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Per Wimmer is a global financier, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is the founder and CEO
of Wimmer Financial, an investment bank specializing in global real estate, natural resources,
and industrials. In 2020, Wimmer Financial won the REFI Awards for Real Estate Investment
Bank of the Year.
Per also runs Wimmer Family Office, which focuses on wealth preservation and fund allocations. In 2019, Wimmer Family Office won the Best Family Office award and was nominated for
the Best International Discretionary Fund Manager award. Per is also a well-respected member
of the international finance community, holding fellowships at the New York Explorer's Club and
The Scientific Exploration Society.
Despite his success in finance, Per is perhaps best known for his adventurous spirit and his
achievements outside of finance. He is an astronaut and adventurer, who is expected to be the
first private Dane in space. He is also a Founding Astronaut with Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin
Galactic.

Pippa Jenman

Head of Real Assets, Investment Management
Pippa Jenman is the Head of Real Assets at St James’s Place and is responsible for the analysis and strategic development of the Real Assets strategies with 15 years’ experience. The
role encompasses manager research, ensuring macroeconomic and factor views are captured
within portfolio construction and delivering investment content to financial advisors. Pippa
joined St James’s Place in 2018, having started her career with JLL in Real Estate Banking
Advisory. Pippa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Econometrics from the University of
Exeter and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

William Hobbs, CAIA

William Hobbs joined Barclays in October 2005, and is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for Barclays Wealth Management & Investments, Barclays UK (BUK). Will leads the team focused on the core aspects of the Investment offering, setting the BUK Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA), Investment Philosophy and delivering Investment content. The CIO Team is the home of investment decisions which form and deliver our best thinking portfolios. Prior to becoming CIO, William held the position of Head of Investment Strategy for Barclays UK.
