Jay Brown to Retire as Crown Castle President and CEO

Crown Castle has announced that Jay Brown will retire as the President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of the Company, effective January 16, 2024.

Crown Castle has announced that Jay Brown will retire as the President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director of the Company, effective January 16, 2024. In response, the Board has assigned Anthony Melone, an existing member of Crown Castle’s Board, to assume the role of interim CEO starting from that date. A search process will be initiated by the Board to select a permanent CEO.

Mr. Brown said, “It has been a privilege to lead this outstanding company and be a part of its growth and success for over two decades. I’m confident the Company’s future is bright as its world-class team continues the critical work to connect people, communities and businesses with each other and to the data, technology and wireless services they rely on every day.”

Mr. Melone, the designated interim CEO to follow Mr. Brown, brings over three decades of experience in the telecommunications sector. He previously held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (“CTO”) at Verizon Communications from December 2010 to April 2015. Furthermore, Mr. Melone served in various roles at Verizon Wireless from 2000 to December 2010, culminating in his role as Senior Vice President and CTO from 2007 to December 2010.
